AMACA is a free community, operated electronically to save time, money and people power.  Utilization of the Internet allows AMACA to alert members of news, events, legislative issues and common concerns. 

As the membership continues to grow, AMACA will offer areas as requested by members for needs such as disaster communication and requests to vendors to develop necessary products and services to better serve the needs of the members of AMACA.

There are three required criteria for AMACA membership:

1.  You represent a group and can list a name, such as a name of your rescue or organization or vet practice.   

2.  You are a user of microchip identification for animals and are part of the United States infrastructure.

3.  You agree with and support the missions and goals stated in the AMACA Membership Form.

AMACA
is composed of a cross section of user groups in America who represent the everyday needs of companion animals and their owners. AMACA has the following current and on going projects and policy objectives:
  1. To promote and encourage the use of microchip identification in companion animals for the purpose of reuniting lost pets with their owners.
  2. To provide a forum for sharing and disseminating the experience and knowledge of microchip users.
  3. To better coordinate disaster recovery and rescue efforts, as well as everyday reunification of pets and owners.
  4. To promote cost effective microchipping and enhancement of the American pet microchip recovery system and services.
  5. To analyze technological developments and evaluate suggested changes to the American system based on impact/cost/benefit to American pets and their care givers.
  6. To establish baseline compliance criteria for microchip technologies that may be introduced into the United States system in the future.
  7. To develop uniformity, compatibility, efficacy and ease-of-use criteria for equipment and database functionality.
  8. To maintain the privacy rights of American pet owners while enabling them to be reunited with beloved pets in cases of loss, theft or disaster.
